The only unit to be issued with this bar was the The 1st Foreign Parachute Regiment (1er Régiment étranger de parachutistes, 1er REP) which was an airborne unit of the Foreign Legion. It fought in the Suez Crisis, but was disbanded after taking part in an attempted regime change against the French government in 1961.
An early original Medal from an ex serving member of the service, which shows some signs of wear, the ribbon is faded (sun bleached) to one side, probably been in a glass frame.
